Kathmandu Durbar Square : The buildings of the Kathmandu Durbar Square mostly date to the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, but the white, European style Gaddi Durbar Palace was built in 1908. Unfortunately, the Kathmandu Durbar Square was extensively damaged during the earthquake of 2015. The ancient Kasthamandap temple--from which Kathmandu derives its name--completely collapsed. However, it is still worth visiting as a number of important buildings remain, and the overall atmosphere--with old men sitting chatting in the shadows, and children chasing pigeons--is as ironically Kathmandu as it always was.

Swayambhunath: Swayambhunath is a Buddhist stupa two kilometres west of central Kathmandu. It’s perched on a hill, so is visible from various points throughout the city, and when the weather is good, the views of the city and the greater Kathmandu Valley from Swayambhu are impressive. Swayambhu dates from the fifth century. The site is of great significance to Tantric Buddhists. Prayers said here are said to be 13 billion times more powerful than those said elsewhere!

Patan Durbar Square: Patan Durbar Square is smaller than the Kathmandu Durbar Square, but also more architecturally coherent. Most buildings were built in the sixteenth century. A highlight is the Patan Museum, located in a wing of the old Royal Palace. This was developed with Austrian aid, and is an impressive collection of statues and other artefacts relating to Nepali Hinduism, Buddhism and traditional architecture in the Kathmandu Valley and beyond.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara, optional enroute white water rafting
Altitude: 900m
Driving distance: 6-7hours drive under normal road condition
Day rafting: Optional 2-3hours at Trishuli River
Transfers: By Private a/c vehicle
Sightseeing tour: By local licensed English speaking guide

Meals: Breakfast at the hotel

Today after breakfast we will drive to Pokhara, which is approx..6-7hours drive.
Pokhara is the second-largest city in Nepal after Kathmandu, and is located in the Nepal’s mid-west. With the Annapurna region only about 25 kilometers away, Pokhara is a key base for trekkers and travelers venturing to and from the region. Pokhara is popular with foreign travelers, with many citing it as the most enjoyable city to stay in while in Nepal. One particular area of the city borders a large lake called Phewa Tal. This part of the city is nicknamed “lakeside,” and it is where most of the hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and shops geared towards tourists are based. Lakeside in particular is very relaxed and calm compared to Kathmandu, and is an enormous contrast from the hustle and bustle of its Kathmandu equivalent, Thamel.

Day 04: In Pokhara, sightseeing tour
Transfers: By Private a/c vehicle
Sightseeing tour: By local licensed English speaking guide
Accommodation: Hotel
Meals: Breakfast at the hotel

Early morning drive to Sarangkot for sunrise view and snowcapped Mountains and later drive back to hotel for breakfast and proceed for sightseeing tour of Pokhara city.

Sarangkot. Situated very close to Pokhara town, its just 45minutes drive from Pokhara city. It offers the breath taking panoramic views of the Annapurna Mountain Range. From here one can have the spectacular panoramic view of the entire Annapurna range stretching from east to west and the un-spoilt rural settlements just below those towering peaks. Viewing 700m down from the top of Sarangkot you can have awesome sights of the stretching Pokhara Valley, Phewa Lake and many more.

Davis fall’s: Witness a unique waterfall that lies 2Km from central Pokhara City. It is believed that this deadly waterfall took the life of a tourist named David, who fell down into the cannel and was never found, and hence the name David waterfall, named in his memory by the people of Pokhara.

Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave is probably the longest and attractive cave in south Asia which is located at the pristine location of northwestern part of Pokhara, a world famous tourist destination in Gandaki zone and Kaski district.

Bindebashini Temple: This is one of the oldest temples in Pokhara. Legend says that when Pokhara was a part of Kaski Kingdom, the main deity of the temple, Goddess Durga, was brought from India. Apart from the peace and tranquility that can be felt in this region, the premises of the temple offers a good view of the Himalaya on a clear day. The temple is in the area of the Bazaar; hence, a journey of the old bazaar can be combined with a visit to the temple.

The Fewa (or Phewa) Lake 1.5kilometer long, second largest lake in Nepal, offers an excellent view of the mountains and their reflections on the lake. You will have an hour boat ride to this lake and the best part is the reflection of Fishtail Mountain in the river.

World peace pagoda: This Pagoda is situated on the top of a hill on the southern shore of Fewa lake. It has four images of Buddha facing in four directions. The Pagoda is an impressive sight and its hilltop location commands a grand view. It is a great vantage point, which offers spectacular view of the Annapurna range and Pokhara city.

Day 05: Drive to Chitwan

Driving distance: 4-5hours drive under normal road condition
Transfers: By Private a/c vehicle

The Chitwan National Park is a conservation success story. Situated in the Terai, the plains bordering India, Chitwan is particularly rich in flora and fauna--and one-horned rhinoceros! One of the last existing populations of these rhinos is thriving in the park. The population now stands at 645--about double what it was a decade ago--thanks to successful anti-poaching measures. On a jungle safari in Chitwan you are practically guaranteed to see the enormous animals--up close! You can also see the endangered gharial crocodile and an abundance of bird life. The villages of the indigenous Tharu people just outside the park are ideal places to participate in a homestay and learn about a different way of Nepali life.
