Gulmarg (Meadow of flowers). Kashmir is blessed by God it’s beautiful its mountains streams green posters’ meadow & people & culture its worth visiting. Gulmarg is situated at the altitude of 2732 meters & is famous for its beauty Gul means flowers & Marg means Meadow. Gulmarg is famous for Golf and Skiing is highest golf course & highest cable car in the world. There is lot u can do in skiing & snowboarding.

Gulmarg Gondola goes up to the highest of 3980 Meters and ski down all the way to Gulmarg, Babarishi and a beautiful run to a village of Drang. Drang is the longest run one can do altitude of 2165 Meters which means u make 1755 vertical meters of skiing in half day and it is not only the skiing you do, you also do experience the true culture while passing through the beautiful villages and experience the people and culture. Gulmarg is actually a valley where is no village but u can ski all the neighboring villages like Bearish, Chianti Petri, Drang, Machine and Tankard. U can experience the skiing with wild life the big Alpine trees and snow covered mountains and sunshine and sunrise peaks which have never been skied. There are some best hotels available in Gulmarg like Highlands Park, Hilltop, Pine Palace and many more. The main mountain is mount Affarvath which is 4120 Meters high and one can go for back country skiing from the top of Affarvath and can ski down from 5000 Mtr. There are so many tree skiing runs available in Gulmarg ski resort, such as Monkey Hill run, Natoopa run, Babarishi run or Gulmarg to Tangmarg run.

Gulmarg's Poma designed gondola features 36 six-seater cabins to lift snow riders 1330 vertical meters to the top station at 3980 meters above sea level. From the top station an optional but easy 20 minute walk will take you to Mt Apharwat's 4120 meter peak.

From the peak it is possible to glide for over a couple of kilometers in either direction along Apharwat's high Northwest and Southeast shoulders, before descending the mountain's multiple ridges, faces and bowls. From the Northwest shoulder this includes magnificent and consistent advanced slopes (suitable for fit intermediate skiers and boarders) to distant parts of the Gulmarg meadow.

Attractions   
Khilanmarg: This smaller valley is about a 6-km walk from the Gulmarg bus stop and car park. The meadow, carpeted with flowers in the spring, is the site for Gulmarg's winter ski runs and offers a fine view of the surrounding peaks and over the Kashmir Valley. It's a 600-metre ascent from Gulmarg to Khilanmarg and during the early spring, as the snow melts, it can be a very muddy hour's climb up the hill. The effort is rewarded, if it's clear, with a sweeping view of the great Himalayas from Nanga Parbat to the twin 7,100-metre peaks of Nun and Kun to the southeast.

Alpather Lake Beyond Khilanmarg,13-km from Gulmarg at the foot of the twin 4,511 metre Apharwat peaks, this lake is frozen until mid-June and even later in the year one can see lumps of ice floating in its cold waters. The walk from Gulmarg follows a well-graded Pony track over the 3,810 metre Apharwat ridge, separating it from Khilanmarg, and then up the valley to the lake at 3,843 meters. The more adventurous trekkers can climb straight up the boulder-strewn slope of the ridge and descend the other side to the path. For horse riding aficionados, Alpather Lake makes an exciting day's excursion, starting early morning and returning late evening.

Shrine of Baba Reship / Zaire of Baba Reship This Muslim shrine is on the slopes below Gulmarg and can be reached from either Gulmarg or Tangmarg. The Ziarat, or tomb, is of a well-known Muslim saint who died here in 1480. Before renouncing worldly ways he was a courtier of the Kashmir King Zain-ul-Abidin. Every year thousands of devotees visit this shrine regardless of the faith they believe in.
